Christmas Time

How the tree looked out my computer room window on Christmas.... today it is 42 and raining and all the snow is off the tree today. Lucky we don't have to shovel rain is all I can say. its been raining all day and a lot of snow has melted but we still have plenty. We broke the all time record of snowfall for Dec so let it rain now. lol

I found the topper for the tree so it is finished now..... I also did some cleaning today and stopped at the store to get new cushions for the dining chairs and then we got our groceries for our Christmas..... It is so cold out you would not believe and guess what........ More snow tonight and tomorrow..... another 8 inches. Its been a long time since we had so much snow for Christmas but when it warms up a bit the kids will have a blast on their Christmas holiday , sleding and sking and ice skating too..... Oh to be a kid again...... I remember Christmas' when we got the kids sleds and coasters and ice skates when they couldn't use them until after school started but every week end they were off.... Happy Happy memories!

Gary doesn't have to work until Friday so I won't be worrying about him and it should be a bit warmer by the week end and Christmas day the sun is even supposed to shine and I will be able to go to church..... Im happy. The kids are calling and say they will be here even if it snows...... thats a good thing.
oh and someone asked how we would know if there wasn't church.... they tell us on tv or the computer and radio..... My son said he made it to church last week but said their weren't many people there..... Gary said the roads were pretty slick today but we didn't have any problem.... Leo knows to drive slow but Gary said he spun around on the road in a complete circle.... good thing no cars around and it was on a side street..... Isn't winter GREAT hahahahaha

Snow again

We got more snow last night and now its blowing and drifting.... very very cold too like a -25 wind chill.... needless to say I am staying inside.... Im lucky because Gary and Leo did the shoveling & snow blowing. It is not weather for snow men as its not warm enough so we won't be seeing any for awhile.... I love to see the different snow men people make..... Churches even got cancelled today and that doesn't happen around here much..... I suppose it would be pretty if it wasn't so darn cold

A lot more snow.......

We are getting yet more snow and now its blowing too... Leo is trying to shovel the driveway now but there will be more snow tomorrow and Sunday.... We may not be able to get to Church Sunday if this continues.... Leo has been following the weather reports and says we may be able to get out Monday to get some food in the house for Christmas..... the kids here in town are coming Christmas eve if the weather permits..... How do you like my little tree..... it is a neat tree as it raises and lowers so I can work on the top and then raise it to the height we like the best.... it isn't at full height here but it is where we like it the best.... all you do is press a button and it came with all the lights too..... fun!

Hope you are managing in this snow or if you haven't any hope you have beautiful weather and if I were you I wouldn't wish for snow because you just might get it. :>)

It working right today!

Yesterday I had trouble getting in here the right way..... only had title and a blank space and a place to publish post.... Today its working right... :>)

It's not snowing today but this is what it looks like. we will be getting more snow tomorrow and then more the rest of the week...Sounds like it will be a snowed in Christmas but I hope not. I still have to get out and do some food shopping and don't like to get those things too early. Time will tell.... Gee they are even getting snow where there just shouldn't be any.... what a winter this is going to be.... maybe Spring will come early this year...... I can only hope.
Not much to write about here, just have Christmas and prep. on my mind...

We've gotten more snow since this pic and looks like more is coming again tonight.... We will have a white Christmas this year I'm sure.
Speaking of Christmas Im really busy around here and haven't had much time with the computer..... I am very slow decorating ~ Is old age creaping up on me I wonder?
Any way when the house is nice and ready for Christmas.... if ever it gets that way I will take pictures..... for myself and show you a few too I guess.... just for the record. We have an artificial tree up and I got a Norfolk pine for the family room and set it on a little table and am having more fun with that..... someday I may just use one like that for our tree... :>)
The sun was shinning for awhile today and now it is so dark we have to turn on lights and its only 4...... the young couple accross the street is shoveling their driveway and it looks like they are having a hard time since they haven't shoveled it yet.... looks like much scraping.... another neighbor snow blowed it while they were at work the other day when we got the most snow but they needed to shovel it again and now its really hard..... Leo did a good job here along with Gary so I haven't shoveled yet. I'm afraid of falling so I got a pair of those spike things to put on my shoes and they work pretty good so maybe next time I will do a bit of shoveling..... last year I fell on the ice right on my back and could hardly get up... had to crawl to the door , so maybe the spikes will stop that from happening again.... I hope because I do like to shovel the snow.... its good exercise
so with that thought I will go and finish the last slipper so I can wrap them and get them ready for mailing..... Hope you are having a wonderful week end

I'ts so cold here Charlie didn't want to sit in his window seat tonight so he tried sitting on the tv so naturallly I had to take a picture. By the way I didn't watch the movie ...lol
It really has been so cold I haven't been out past the front door for 2 days.... It keeps snowing and today blowing like crazy so much so it seems to come right into the house.... I guess I will have to learn to like it for a couple of months now won't I? I just got a few new books to read and am still working on more slippers for my Daughter in law .... Im making a pretty light pink and white now.... not very practical but her favorite color.
Leo and Gary are spending a lot of time shoveling the snow and I have been working on Christmas cards too. I got a new address book I had to fill out and then put the names on the computer..... Maybe I will finish Monday because tomorrow is not a day I do work, lol
I will get used to it .... just you see....hahahaha does anyone ever get used to being frozen.... I do have a lot of warm clothes and maybe I will go and get a nice cup of hot chocolate.... that should do it.

Almost December

Thanksgiving is finished again and now onward to Christmas....... What a happy time of the year. I am playing my Christmas music box .... it is nice to finally not be considered strange to listen to Christmas music isn't it? I uploaded the Christmas cd from Oprah my sister Janice told me about .... its a good one and free for 48 hours she said.... I suppose the time is up now.... anyway its a nice one.
Leo has been going shopping the last couple of days.... I told him I had enough of that kind of shopping but I will see what it is like tomorrow. I like people in the stores but not like on black friday..... that poor woman that got killed at Wal mart in the mad crush...... shame on them all.
Anyway I'm listening to Christmas music and enjoying the season.... Thinking about what Charity I want to give too and not just letting the telephone callers dictate to me what to give too. I chose the St Jude hospital and we will be taking cards off the giving tree also.... A time of giving and it feels so good!

First Pretty Snow

We got our first pretty snow this year.... This is my backyard tree with orange berries.... its just beautiful isn't it, the other is showing the paths Leo shoveled for the little dogs....

Yesterday was a nice day.... we went shopping and our daughter Julie was in the store so we enjoyed walking around with here for awhile..... last week we saw her at a different store. I didn't get much just a few groceries and some gift bags and money cards.... Christmas shopping is about finished and I'm not the worst for wear. LOL
Today my cat got outside but he came back in ..... not so much fun with the snow I guess. Poor Charlie

I wonder why I can't get pictures to be where I want them.... in order ......
Must go and get something done now... finish cleaning up the kitchen and a little laundry for starters...... Hope you are having a wonderful day

Cleaners

I haven't gone to the cleaners for awhile and when I went it was closed so we went to a new one.... I took 2 nice wool sweaters there and the price was $18 and that was with $2.20 off... I still can't believe it.... Is that normal now and if it is no wonder the other cleaner is closed, no one goes to the dry cleaner anymore unless very necessary.... the sweaters look like new and they were expensive --- I think I will be careful not to get them dirty for a long time.... Maybe just look at them from time to time LOL
Not much else new here I guess.... I started taking the halloween things down and putting away today.... the ones in the house , the outside ones we put away the day after. Leo has the lights on our evergreens and they look so pretty but we won't light them until after Thanksgiving...Thats when I will start to decorate the house.... the older I get the longer it takes so I have to start early....
Yesterday I made sweet potatoes in the oven and they were so delicious. I don't think I will put them in the microwave anymore.... I put a little butter and brown sugar on them for the first time and yummy they were so good. Leo liked his too so I will be getting more. They are supposed to be so good for you. Another thing about me getting older I like food that is good for me more now then ever..... I even like cottage chees now and I never did, Of coarse I like it with applesauce but that is supposed to be good too , right?
Im almost finished reading my book now, it is so interesting, I can't wait until I get his next one

Nice cold Monday

Well we are all set for winter now....LOL we had better be because I believe it has arrived, winter coat time. Its only 29 now at noon. We will be settling in for a long winters night...LOL Leo is fishing today maybe the last time?????? wonder when the water will freeze but he will be there until it does.
Yesterday Gary and Leo went to the Packer game and they couldn't believe their luck at the good game they got to see.... they were warm enough except I think their faces were frozen.... they were still red when they got home but that was all that was cold. I stayed home and crocheted a pair of slippers for my daughter in law... at her request. I think she eats them as Im always making her more..... Im also reading a good book. "Dreams of my Father" a very good insight of Barack Obama... Im 1/3 through and its an easy book to read.
I think we decided to give our kids money and the younger grandchildren we will give gifts and just small packages for the rest to open along with the money. Sounds like a good idea to Leo so Im going along with it.... some I would like to buy gifts but then I don't know what to get others and maybe they will all be here at the same time so that can't happen
Leo is home already so guess its time for lunch.... Hope everyone is having a happy day

I just came in to let you know Im fine but haven't anything to say.... can't think of a thing. I have just been doing the normal and regular stuff and as they say no news is good news.... here now anyway.... knock on wood
Hope all is good with everyone.... I have been reading all the blogs and sometimes leave a remark but sometimes not. Im trying to go on a diet but then all I think of is food so I gained 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks.... not good but will try to do better
Also thinking of doing Christmas shopping but I have so many to buy for they just might get the money and a book or box of candy this year....Its not as fun when you have 22 people to buy for but if its that way with you please tell me what you do... I need ideas :>)

Its a beautiful day her again so I think it time to get dressed and do something .... don't know what yet but maybe to the grocery store.... but you never know on a Sat who you might run into and have a nice talk with... so off I go........ hope you all have a nice day

Beautiful Fall day

Had to come in and see what is going on in journal land before I get outside for my last(I hope) garden clean up. Leo is still sleeping because he doesn't really want to go and do the work either but we will ........
Yesterday I finished reading "All The Way Home" by David Giffels. It was an interesting book and made me feel I was a member of the family almost...Just a small book but he tells how he bought a rundown huge house and about the remodeling of it and the family life they had there. Last night I finished the first chapter of "The Longest Trip Home" Its going to be another interesting book I think.... John Grogan telling about his growing up and meeting his wife and about his parents.... the auther of Marley & Me.
Yesterday was a good day too, just did the laundry and when we were just about decided to go and do the yard work Gary came home early from work and wanted to go golfing with Leo so in about 5 min they were off. I don't blame them as it was a perfect day for it.
I enjoyed Obama's telecomercial last night. We all think he will make a wonderful president.... :>)
Now I must get going ..... well slowly..... I still have to have my coffee and breakfast

Cold and Sunny

It was supposed to rain today so we didn't plan on doing the yard work, and besides it is too cold today. The weather man said Wed. Thur. and Fri will be better days so thats when we plan on doing it. By the way this isn't a picture of my house but of the pumpkin patch house, in case you were wondering..... Nice old house though and well kept.
I didn't do much this week end. Mostly read ec on Saturday and Sunday we went to Church and then shopping. Leo suggested we go to Penneys to look for some shirts for me.... i couldn't find them but a saleslady asked me if I could find what I was looking for and when I said no she remember seeing something like that and they were stuck on the bottom of a shelf in a place no shopping cart could go. They were just plain ones and I wanted something with a print but I bought 2 anyway since I'm having trouble finding them this year. I got a pink and a blue and when I got to the checkout I found out they were more than 50% off. so that was good and I have one on today and it fits perfect and matches my dark pink sweater with the v neckline..... then we went to Piggly Wiggle and got some food and came home and watched the race and ate. LOL So much for my diet but I will get started on that soon..... (I had better)
After my son and Carley came over and Carley and I played on the computer and she showed me where I could find some cute clip art. She said she uses that for her school work and letters to her friends.... She is in 5th grade. She is selling magazines for her school so I bought one and so did my daughters and son and her other relatives in Minn. so she will do ok I hope.
My son Gary wasn't going to vote but by word of mouth he got a ballot in the mail and filled it out and now has voted....What a guy....lol
Haven't a clue what I will do the rest of the day but Mondays are always good days for cleaning up around the house.....

Rainy Day

Its a nice rainy day today..... don't feel guilty about the yard work so we went to Krolls for lunch and then shopping. I needed some mock neck shirts to go under other shirts for winter and winter is coming. They didn't have exactly what I wanted and went to 2 stores.... why this year I wonder when they have had them every year for the past 10 or more.... Anyway I got 3 of what they had so that is good anyway. I also got my hair trimed .... was going to get it cut shorter but at the last minute I changed my mind and just got a trim. Better than being sorry isn't it
I just finished reading "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society" I enjoyed it. Its just a small book about a group of people in 1946.... it tells how they endured the ocupation of the Germans for 5 years and then after what happened.... It was all letters and the story was very interesting.... wish I could know more.... It was just a short book with 274 pages. Now I'm going to start reading All the Way Home by David Giffels I believe its a true story .... one like Marley and me but instead of a dog its a man rebuilding a house with his little son.... will let you know. :)
So now I will read the blogs and turn on tv maybe for the first time today and its already 3:45 must be something else going on in this crazy mixed up world of ours,

Today I did some yard work and Leo is still out there but my back started hurting... its cool out but when working you would be surprised how warm it gets.... wish my old body was in better shape to last longer out there but I'm sure there is still more work I can do next week. Next week because its supposed to rain tomorrow and maybe Sat too....
I haven't eaten yet today so off I go to make something to eat.... Im starving

Beautiful Fall Day

Its another beautiful fall day here..... I guess I have no excuse but to get outside and do a little more yard cleanup...... but I will think of something. Monday and Tuesday were busy days, just doing laundry and cleaning up stuff. Today is the day Pogo gives us new games for badges.... hahahahaha I gotta go and see what I will do today for another badge.
Leo is home from fishing and is eating his breakfast so it will be awhile yet before he starts the yard work I guess. He has some more bags of mulch to spread around. I suppose if I want them in any special place I should really get out there. I used to do all the fall yard work but lately he has decided he will do it. Of coarse it was better done when I did it ( lol) but its easier this way and I like easy.
So If I find something to write about I will come back, otherwise have a nice day

We had an uneventful week end..... Went to church Sunday .... the man that is running for congress was there (he did not talk or campaign) Makes me wonder if I should vote for him now. Wasn't going to but he is such a nice man but then the other guy is too so whoever makes it we lucked out I believe.
I was going to do yard work today but I just can't get going this morning. I have to push myself but I should remind myself how good I wil feel when I do.LOL
We got a new telephone yesterday too. One for my computer room. The one I had the numbers wore off and I couldn't see who was calling. very frustrating so I got a new one and it was not much money either.... it has covered buttons so I won't be wearing off the numbers. Wonder why that happened .... also wore off some of the numbers on my old keyboard...... does that happen to you?

FALL LEAVES

I took some pictures of our yard and fall in Wisconsin or at least my neighborhood. Then that night we had a big wind and it sounded like it was a big rain storm but it was just the leaves falling so at least half of the leaves that were on the trees are now in our yards. Leo had just raked them up and will be doing it again soon but first he must go fishing.... Why is it when the leaves are falling and the yard work needs to be done that its the best time to finally catch the big ones. LOL
Yesterday we got our flu shots and then grocery shopping and paying bills... a good day to get things finished as it was raining.
I wasn't going to watch the debates but we just had to,,,, haha have to know what the buzz is about. I sure do hope my guy wins..... it will be another sad 4 years if he doesn't I'm afraid. We haven't much longer to wait now thank goodness..... but waiting is better somehow then the other guy getting in........ oh boy.
Today is a cool sunny day.... the sun always makes it seem warmer so its a beautiful day... hope your day is nice today too

My New Lamp

I thought I would put a picture in of my new lamp.... I have been waiting for just the right time to get one like this.... been wanting one for a few years now. It's so pretty just sitting in the living room and looking at it... :>)
We went to the vets today to get our dogs weighed and they lost weight in the 2 weeks since they started their diet. Peaches lost .6 and Twinkie lost .4 we are so happy its working.... the dogs are already more active.... Peaches weighed 13 and Twinkie 11 and they are supposed to weigh only 8 the vet said so we are going to have healthy pets... maybe if I lost some weight the same could be said about me..... ya think?
Went to Walgreens to get my meds and they had a sign on the window that said they are giving flu shots daily.... how convient that is. I think we will cancel our apt at the doctor and get ours there. Medicare is paying so that is good.
We got a little yard work done today too. Its such a beautiful day and all the trees are so pretty. But in a few days it will seem like winter because the leaves will probably be fallen and it will be getting colder. It was so warm yesterday and today ...... we were so warm last night we had to turn our air on.... and tomorrow Leo will no doubt want to turn the heat on.... haha

New Slippers

I got my new slippers and they fit perfect and match my light blue robe! easy on and easy off is what I like because my feet have a tendency to get too warm. I got them at Wal Mart and only $5...... I did well with those but I found a small tv I wanted but guess what they didn't have the small one so we left and Leo went to another wal mart to get one but they said it won't be in for at least a month so he got the next size. Just a 19" but set for the new tv what ever that is..... nice flat one. It's amazing how nice and small it is.

I'm watching the Packer game now..... It's a tough game because our quarterback has a sore arm..... Brett did well today. Sorta wish he was still here but then this gives Aaron a chance i guess.score is tied so far.... Hope we do better the second half

PEACHES

Just doing a bit of this and that today. Its a beautiful day here but I have been playing around with this blog a lot today and doing other little things. Right now Im watching the race and the baseball game.... mostly the race. My favorite is winning right now so Im crossing my fingers XXXXXX
Tomorrow will be a nice day too so after church we will probably go shopping etc etc...We don't have to be home until 3 because its a late football game tomorrow and hopefully its not in Green Bay so the traffic won't be too bad. I would like to get a new pair of slippers, Mine have bitten the dust and a pair I got for Christmas last year just don't fit right...... better not ask for things like that in the future...... He got the right size but they were those fluffy kind and I think a bigger size was needed then..... My son meant well so thats what counts anyway and I try to squeeze into them once in a while but ........
I added so many things to the blog but Im just testing them out,,,,, isn't it fun? I have more fun with that than I do writing in here though. LOL

Busy day

I bought a new printer today

One that will work with my computer

I had a nice one but it didn't work with the new computer so Leo is going to keep it for his use.... probably until the paper and ink I gave him is gone... But I did print out my journal anyway. now I have a big book. since November 2003 but I had gotten a new computer and changed my email address and couldn't get the first part back. I dont remember what name it was but Im pretty sure I deleted it.
Now I just finished putting the pictures in my computer so I can save them to disk.... It will be like one of those books you can get that has a cd in the pocket in the back of the book..... Isn't the tree accross the street pretty? It turns color so fast and then its gone but its beautiful while it lasts. Hope everyone had a good day today

Nice morning

We had a nice morning and I got some things done....... Leo is cleaning out the gutters after a little fishing.... he got 6 Walleye today and he came home happy. He doesn't bring the fish home so that makes me happy... :) I
I did my laundry and puttered in the yard and took out a few halloween things, like my pumpkin rugs and the big light up pumpkin and orange witch for the front porch. Little by little it will get done.
Is anyone going to watch the debates tonight? I don't think I want to. I've been watching so much of that stuff lately that I'm sick of it to tell the truth. I wish it was voting day and it would all be behind us. It lasts so long that everyone is sick of it and you wonder if they even have the best candidates.... But it is the way it is and I just don't feel like watching debates. I know who I'm voting for and I'm not changing my mind......anyway they will have it on the news for the next week I bet, LOL

Rainy cloudy day

Its raining its pouring an old man is snoring....... well it's not pouring now but it may as well be. Its not a good day to do yard work so I just cleaned a bit and opened my book and read..... Could do laundry after all it is Monday. Maybe I will yet.
Not much on tv either, I'm watching cnn and they are still worried about money. If they don't talk about elections its all about money. I guess they are really worried and I suppose I should be too. They say people are buying gold...... but the price of that is going up more than it was before.... I don't have any money in the stock market so so far we don't have to worry about it I guess...... Prices of everything will be going up I suppose...... I have enough stuff, Just have to worry about the necessities.... you know food and heat for the winter and "gas" for the car.
This blog site is getting better with each person that joins..... soon we will all get used to it and probably will like it more than aol. :>)
We went to church yesterday and they have one of the stained glass windows installed from the old church. It has been cleaned and fixed and is prettier than ever... Can hardly wait until we have them all installed..... maybe by Christmas I hope. Then we stopped at the store and I got a fall tablecloth and some pumpkin pot holders, a Paul Newman movie and some other things I needed.
When we got home a friend of Garys was over with his daughter and his girlfriends little girl and 2 of the cutest little puppies you ever wanted to see. Her dog had puppies and we almost bought one but Twinkie kinda snaped at it and I decided I had enough with my 2 dogs and cat....... But gee was it ever sweet. It was a Yorkie and only 6 weeks old....... Today Im happy I didn't cave in cuz boy would I be tired today ........ Puppies can be a lot of work, especially til they get house broken.
All our favorite teams lost yesterday _____ was a bad day for sport fans.

A Beautiful Fall Day

I wish I could get this little chapel larger. Its a little chapel in the woods my Grandfather and his brother-in-law built in 1925. I haven't been there but have seen pictures and maybe someday I will go.
Its a beautiful fall day today. I really should get outside and do something. It's cold but sunny so that makes it beautiful.... Leo is outside doing yard work but I just took a shower and don't want to take another one so here I sit at the computer.... He is focused though and I should leave him alone.. just hope Monday or Tuesday is another beautiful day so I can get something done. We have the front yard just about done and when it is I will take pictures. Then its the back... I have a little start back there so It shouldn't be too hard... It always looks so nice in the fall when we have all the plants cut back . Hate to take in the patio furniture though so that will probably wait until November.... We always have the front porch to sit on and its usually warmer there too because its on the sunny side of the house.
One of our tv stations is no longer on our cable(fighting about a contract) So we went and picked up an antenna and it works just fine.... not like the old days when it would be fuzzy....... but it sure reminds me of the old days and when I look at it it brings a smile to my face....
I had better get moving..... feel too guilty not doing anything.... did clean up the house a bit but can't just sit here.
